Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting early detection, and promoting research to end breast cancer.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
A national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence.
Each October, Beta Chapter unites with organizations and individuals across the country to uplift the needs, voices, and experiences of survivors.
Interval House – Morning Honoring Survivors of Domestic Violence

Description: Beta Chapter members and friends are invited to attend this morning of honor and support.
American Cancer Society – Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Date: October 5
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Bushnell Park, Hartford, CT
Description: Family and friends of Beta Chapter are encouraged to join the walk or make a donation to this important cause.
Annual Events

Apple for Teacher
Our annual Apple for the Teacher Luncheon honors exceptional educators and raises funds for local scholarships.
In June, we also host a Tea Party to introduce the honorees before their November recognition during American Education Week.

Black History Month
We recognize and celebrate Black History Month with events honoring culture, history, and community achievements.
In February 2024, Beta Chapter donated books to Rawson Elementary School students.

Business Entrepreneur
Celebrating women entrepreneurs and leaders making an impact in the Greater Hartford area.
In April 2024, Beta Chapter sponsored a Business Month Pop-Up Shop featuring a variety of local vendors.

Community Service Initiatives
Our community service programs support health, education, and families throughout the year.
Recent examples include participation in the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, Thanksgiving Food Drive at St. Monica’s Church, Senior Christmas Party at Faith Manor Elderly Housing, and the AllXity Back-to-School Drive in Hartford’s North End.

Founder's Day
Founder’s Day commemorates the founding of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. and celebrates our shared history and values.
In June 2025, Sorors renewed their vows, pledged dedication to the sorority, and celebrated together at a dinner event.

Scholarship Awards
Each year we award scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education.
In May 2025, a Scholarship Awards Tea Party honored recipients and their families, with awardees heading to Spelman College and Boston University.
