Scholarships & Philanthropy
Our Commitment
Since our founding in 1948, Beta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. has remained deeply committed to service, scholarship, and the empowerment of women and youth in Hartford and beyond. Philanthropy is at the heart of our mission, and through programs that support education, leadership, and community well-being, we work to uplift the next generation of leaders.
Scholarships for Students
Each year, Beta Chapter awards scholarships to outstanding high school graduates pursuing higher education at accredited four-year institutions. These awards, given in memory of Sorors Rose H. Jamieson and Viola D. Higgins, reflect our enduring investment in education and opportunity.
Over the years, we have proudly distributed over $80,000 in scholarships, helping students achieve their academic goals and launch meaningful careers.
Youth Leadership Programs
Through the Future Iota Leaders (FILs) program, we mentor youth ages 8–20, fostering confidence, leadership skills, and community service values. FILs receive guidance from chapter members who serve as role models and advisors, preparing them for success in school, in college, and beyond.
