As someone without biological sisters, BETA Chapter has truly become my chosen family. Through the years, this sisterhood has embraced me, supported me, and walked beside me as I raised two incredible children—Jonathan and Georgia. With Jonathan, I had the joy of sharing a Bus Trip to Disney World. We made it more than just magical. We made it meaningful. On the way, we stopped in Atlanta to visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, turning a family adventure into a powerful educational experience. With Georgia, I attended an Eastern Regional Conference in Buffalo, NY, and we took a detour to Niagara Falls. Her wide-eyed wonder and innocent joy still echo in my heart. She looked at me and said, “Ma, when I’m on this side, I’m in Canada—and when I’m on this side, I’m in the United States.” That moment reminded me of the beauty of discovery and the importance of shared experiences. Beyond my family, BETA Chapter has given me countless memories: the warmth of our Seniors Christmas Party, the pride of our Black History Month tributes, the celebration of educators at our annual Apple for the Teacher luncheons, and the unity we show during the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. I truly enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship that follows our monthly meetings. They fill my home with laughter, my heart with warmth, and remind me that sisterhood is never far away. This chapter has been more than an organization to me. It’s a living, breathing testament to love, legacy, and sisterhood. And I am forever grateful to be part of it.

Attending my first Eastern Regional Conference in Newport News, Virginia was a defining moment in my journey as a proud member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. From the moment I stepped into the hotel lobby, I was greeted by a sea of radiant green and white—Sorors smiling warmly, the air buzzing with excitement and unity. It was more than a gathering; it was a celebration of sisterhood. Connecting face-to-face with women I’d previously only known through phone calls was a joy. The conference offered opportunities to learn, grow, and be inspired. I attended two impactful workshops, “Financial Literacy” and “Women’s Health and Wellness”, both thoughtfully tailored to empower Black women. Each session left me informed and uplifted. One of the highlights was witnessing chapter presentations, where each group showcased a signature project from the past year. The creativity, dedication, and passion behind each initiative were truly inspiring. From the Awards Banquet and First Timers performance to browsing vendor tables for Iota apparel and paraphernalia, every moment was filled with pride and purpose. I left the conference feeling rejuvenated, deeply connected, and honored to stand among such phenomenal women. It reaffirmed my commitment to our mission and reminded me why Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. is more than an organization—it’s a legacy of excellence, empowerment, and enduring sisterhood.
